Bilingual Education Institute (BEI) Strengthens Partnership with Sam Houston State University (SHSU)

November 2024 marks significant strengthening of partnership between BEI and SHSU leaders. Not only did BEI have the honor of hosting key SHSU international leadership on their campus on the first day of the month, Jake Mossawir, BEI’s CEO, and Dr. Adria Baker, BEI’s Head of Strategic Partnerships had the opportunity to visit SHSU’s beautiful campus in Huntsville, Texas, only a few days afterwards.
SHSU’s Dr. Christine Cardinal, Executive Director of Experiential Learning, Jonnathan De La Fuente, Director of the Global Engagement Center (GEC), and Daniela Mirabal, Assistant Director of the GEC travelled from Huntsville to Houston to meet with BEI’s academic, curriculum development leaders and refugee services leaders, Keri Lippe, Manal Jaffer, Dr. Luba Nesterova and Rebecca Avrill. They toured the school and discussed their interest in BEI’s academic, refugee volunteer services, and medical English programs.
Supporting one another ’s mission for attracting international students, participating in student language volunteer programs, and offering academic and experiential growth opportunities to SHSU and BEI students are just some of the goals. We believe that international impact will be enhanced, as a result of focusing on top priorities for both BEI and SHSU – together.
